Decision Engine
At the heart of every Apex LIMS is Apex's Decision Engine. It is constantly running in the background ensuring that
your worflow rules are being properly executed.
The Decision Engine uses a "rules-based" design that lets you easily configure your LIS workflow to exactly support the way you wish to run your lab.
The LIS database contains the rules associated with each core component. Changing component functionality is easily accomplished by setting
parameters in the Decision Engine database. The rules-based design allows for easy scaling of analyzers, labs and locations.
Rules Management
The Decision Engine can hamdle simple rules like whetehr to send an email, fax or text with new results to the ordering provider.
It is also fully capable of handling more complex rules like automatically release results for this panel if
all observations are within standard reference range.
